Curvy girls have been receiving a lot of attention lately. Ashley Graham, the plus size model, has been the topic of conversation because of her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover; a cover that made history! Now, more curvy girls are in the spotlight. This month’s issue of Ebony Magazine features women from different areas of the industry, showing off their curves.

Women all over the world are being told their shape is beautiful, but for how long? Our society is constantly going back and forth with what is “acceptable” and what is not. You can be skinny, then you’re too skinny the next day. You can be thick (a complementary term in African American culture), but then you’re fat… and now, there’s slim thick (whatever that means)… We have all of these titles, but who is making up the rules?
It’s time for women to make their own rules and curvy girls are doing just that, showing that not everyone who isn’t a size 4 is miserable or unhealthy. Self-love is the key to confidence and confidence is sexy. Curves are in because confidence is in. Curves are in because of women like the ones on the cover of Ebony and those pictured below; women that are confident, fashion forward, and inspiring…

Having confidence guarantees that you’ll always be in style. No matter what the “trend” is, confidence will always be in!
Be confident. Stay beautiful.
