Hey guys! It’s been a while, so I thought I’d fill you in.
A couple weeks ago, I was having a wardrobe crisis. I had an event coming up and I thought I’d ordered the perfect outfit, but, once it got here, my dreams were crushed. I’m sure many of you can relate. With this event a couple days away, there was no time to wait for another outfit to come. I tried going to the mall and had no luck and I definitely didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I already had my heart set on wearing the thigh high boots I’d ordered so I needed a specific type of outfit. I decided to try to find an oversized jacket to wear as a dress. I don’t know why because I don’t really dress like that, but I was scrolling through Rihanna’s and Karrueche’s Instagram and I was feeling inspired (I guess lol).
So, since the mall had already failed me, there was no more time for online shopping, and I was feeling stingy with my pockets, the thrift store seemed like a great idea. In high school, I used to thrift a lot, but, after that, I can’t even remember the last time I went to a thrift store. I was praying it would work in my favor today — so off to the thrift store I went. Once I got there, I realized what I’d been missing for the last few years. Right now, the oversized 90s vibe is in and a good thrift store has pieces that can help achieve that look. Some thrifts stores are complete misses, but, once you find a good one, or go in on a good day, you can find some good pieces. I ended up wearing an oversized camouflage jacket that I found in the men’s section and a black t-shirt dress (stolen from my roommate’s closet lol).

The other good thing about thrifting is, even if you go in with a mission, you could come out with some useful pieces you didn’t plan on finding. In my case, I found a dark wash denim jacket and I really needed one. I’ve been wearing the camo jacket all the time and the denim jacket whenever it’s nice outside. Two new pieces that add value to my closet for less than $17. I couldn’t ask for a better deal.

So, basically, I’ve become addicted to thrifting…again. If you haven’t tried thrifting, you definitely should. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find anything the first time because it really is hit or miss. I’ve been to a few thrift stores that were a miss… a lot are a miss (lol). Once you find a hit, you’ll realize what my addiction is all about.
Happy Saturday and happy future thrifting!
XO,
Sydney
