Melania Trump steps on to Air Force 1, headed to Texas. She is accompanying her husband, President Trump, to Texas to survey the damage and response to Hurricane Harvey. Looking at the shoes she’s wearing, I’m not sure how much of an impact she plans to make on her trip.
Yes, every time the first lady steps out, whatever she wears becomes a topic of discussion, but, in this case, that’s even more of a reason to look like you’re about do some work. Wearing heels on your way to a state facing what has been classified as a category 4 hurricane, says more than just “these are a cute pair of shoes”. The people of Texas are facing a natural disaster. People have been misplaced out of their homes, lost cars, and loved ones. These shoes just scream “I may be First Lady, but I’m purely ornamental”. Whether or not that’s what she meant, her publicist should be fired.
I guess all the conversation about her choice of shoes got to her because, when she touched down in Houston, she had on a completely different outfit. Even with the outfit change, she (or her team) should have known that stepping out, in stilettos, to go to a city facing a category 4 hurricane, was stupid. She looked like to was headed to a runway, not a hurricane.
I’m sure she was completely clueless but that’s another problem in itself. What do you think?
