Third Pieces: Let Them Do the Work for You

Hey y’all! Happy March! The year is flying by so fast, but, I have to say, I’m glad to see the spring months creeping in (even though it’s still cold outside). With Spring just around the corner, it’s time to think about wardrobe choices for the next season. During these transitional periods, it can be a little tricky. The sun is coming out, the temperatures look like they’re rising, but it’s still cold outside.

One trick I plan on using this season is a good third piece. Third pieces can really add that “oomph” you’re looking for when trying to complete a look. A third piece can be any accessory that compliments your outfit, and makes a statement. Belts, hats, scarves, bags, jackets… all third pieces. That third piece is what makes the girl you see walking down the street with a white tee and jeans look so chic.

My Fav Fall Color

Hey y’all!

I hope everyone is bundling up out there because fall is definitely here on the east coast and it’s feeling a bit more like winter.

Even though I hate the chilly weather, I love the fall fashion. I’m a neutrals kind of girl so sometimes I struggle wearing bright colors in the spring/summer season. In the fall and winter, however, I get to live my life in some more neutral colors and monochromatic looks.

One color trend I’m already into this fall is camel. My last few purchases have all been pieces in that tan, bronze, camel, etc. color family. And, according to Pantone, these are 2 of the 5 core colors for the season: camel and meerkat.

Just A Pop of Color

Hey guys!

It’s been a minute… again (lol), but I’m back with an OOTD for ya! Lately, when I’m getting dressed, I’m super focused on how comfortable I am in what I’m wearing. I know beauty is pain, but that motto is taking a backseat in my life right now. This look is comfortable and, to give it a more “put together” feel, I added a blazer and pops of color. Who says you can’t be cute and comfortable?  Continue reading “Just A Pop of Color”

Be Comfortable, Sis

Hey guys!

It’s been a while, so let’s get right into it. Let’s talk about this new comfy fashion trend. For the past few years, athleisure has been a thing. Now, it’s getting a little more fashionable, but the comfort is still there. You probably wouldn’t believe it, but, before college, I didn’t own a pair of sweatpants. Times have changed because, right now, I’m loving them! They’re extremely comfortable and you don’t have to think much about putting them on. And who knew you can have on sweats and still make a fashion statement? How? Just grab some heels.  Continue reading “Be Comfortable, Sis”

Bargain Shopping: Because Trying to Be Beyonce Without Beyonce Money is Stressful

Everyone is always talking about bargain shopping. We see slogans everywhere: Dress for Less, Balling on a Budget, Bargainista, etc. Being a college student, my funds tend to be limited and priorities tend to… well, take priority. I’m in the process of rebuilding my wardrobe. Since I’m always on the hunt for clothes, shoes, etc., I’ve learned a few things about where and how to use my coins. Faux Leather in Every Hue

We’re well into fall and, every fall, there’s a new leather jacket trend. The leather jacket trend never really goes away — there’s just always a “bigger” and “better” version. Continue reading “Faux Leather in Every Hue”

Throwback Thursday, Everyday: 90’s Fashion is Still the Trend

The 90’s fashion vibe is back, with bright colors, oversized lapels, box braids, and natural beauty looks galore, and it’s creepin’ in with a little more TLC. Not only is this trend showing us some tender love and care, but it’s taking us back to the good ol’ days of the 90’s, reminding us of our favorite 90’s celebs.

Fashion in the 90’s was effortless and edgy. Designers of New York Fashion Week are taking this effortless edge and adding a dash of that 90’s fashion vibe to their collections. These new looks have a twist, but, from the cross walk to the runway, 90’s fashion is unmistakable. Continue reading “Throwback Thursday, Everyday: 90’s Fashion is Still the Trend”

Gabrielle Unions Slays the Emmys Red Carpet

Stars made their way down the red carpet for the Emmys on Sunday. The carpet was filled with a lot of bold fashion choices. Some looks were great and some were, well, not so great.

Amongst all of the celebs that were there, Gabrielle Union and her husband, NBA player Dwyane Wade, made an appearance. According to Gabrielle’s Instagram, this was the couple’s first time being at the Emmy’s and, from the looks of it, she took it very seriously.
