NYFW S/S18: RiRi Takes Fashion Week by Storm

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but Rihanna is killing it! Rihanna debuted the Fenty x Puma Spring/Summer 2018 collection at New York Fashion Week. As the creative director, Rihanna works with design director, Melissa Battifarano, to bring Fenty x Puma to life. The duo has done it again with the collection for this season!

This season’s Fenty x Puma collection was motocross inspired and has both women’s and men’s looks. The collection features men’s motocross looks that have been transformed into feminine streetwear — These looks were my favorite. The looks managed to keep oversized silhouettes while still accentuating the curves of the female body and adding a dose of sex appeal to the collection.  From the moto style jackets to biker pants and high cut swim suits, the collection was power packed with amazing looks.

Here are a few of my favorites:

NYFW S/S18: OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Oscar de la Renta is definitely looking different, but I’m loving it! Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia showcased their ready-to-wear spring/summer 2018 Oscar de la Renta collection during New York Fashion Week. This was the duo’s sophomore collection for the brand and they definitely did things a little differently. When the duo was brought back to Oscar de la Renta as creative directors, they were charged with the task of capturing a younger audience. This RTW S/S18 collection sure captured me!

The models entered and exited the runway on escalators. As the show opens, you see a crisp white button down with a pair of equality crisp white shorts coming down the escalator and then … color! The shirt is embellished with small pops of color and sequins. The designer duo was inspired by pop art and Oscar’s signature and hand written notes. Throughout the collection there are paint like splatters and handwritten notes and signatures used as motifs. Since this is the ready to wear line, the designers wanted to stay true to the house, but also stay relevant to the more casual style that is trending right now. The looks featured a blend of edge and elegance, which I love!

Here are a few of my favorite looks from the show:

MY PERSONAL STYLE??

Hey guys!

Let’s talk about personal style! As a fashion student, it seems like I should have a concrete idea of what my personal style is, right? WRONG. I have no idea (lol), but it’s about time I figure it out.

So, I’ve been thinking and, until recently, I don’t even think my personal style existed because I didn’t have the pieces to make the outfits I wanted to wear. Now that I’m building up my wardrobe a bit more, my style is becoming a little easier to describe. Continue reading “MY PERSONAL STYLE??”

Make A Statement, But Don’t Try Too Hard

Hey guys,

This summer, my style has really  been changing. Before now, you would never see me in color and, if you did, it was simply because that’s all I had to put on that morning (lol). Statement pieces, until now, were non existent in my closet and basics were too. Basically, I had no clothes because I wasn’t a smart shopper and just bought a bunch of random pieces that looked good in the store, but in real life they were not that cute. On top of that, I never had anything to wear these random pieces with. Continue reading “Make A Statement, But Don’t Try Too Hard”

Black Girl Magic at the Met Gala (2017)

This year’s Met Gala red carpet featured some black girl magic. I live for red carpets; looking at celebs walk the carpet, hoping they’ll live up to my expectations — sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. I’m one of those people that never really cares about watching award shows (unless Beyonce is performing lol). The Grammys… all about the red carpet. The Oscars… all about the red carpet.

The Met gala, even though it’s not an award show, is still all about the red carpet. Plus, it’s always satisfying to see the black girl magic slay-age. In case you missed out on any of it, here are some of the few queens that, I think, killed the carpet and let their black girl magic shine.

Spring Vibes: Skirts & Sneaks

It’s spring time — which also means it’s “get cute” time (lol). Even though the warm weather puts me in a better mood, most spring mornings, when I wake up to get ready for class,  I don’t want to have to think to hard about what to put on. On top of that, even when I’m chill, I still want to look cute. I’m always trying to figure out how I can have it both ways.

Last Minute Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend. Valentine’s Day is 4 days away. No matter what the occasion is, I somehow end up doing all of my shopping at the last minute. Then, when you’re down to the wire, you can’t think straight. All of the cute outfit ideas you had go out the window and you’re online searching or running around the mall, looking crazy.

Whether you’re going out with your significant other or having a girls night, you want to look your best and, just because it’s a little late in the game, it doesn’t mean you can’t slay. Here are some outfits from common stores that won’t break your pockets. At the very least, here’s some inspiration to help you while you’re frantically running around the mall. Continue reading “Last Minute Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas”

BASICALLY, IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FUNDAMENTALS

School is in session. Summer has really come to an end and it’s time to get in work mode – for real this time. Maybe you’re a college student and school work is starting to pile up. Maybe you’re a grad student balancing new classes, internships, and a part-time job. You may be reading this and you’re just happy the weekend is here because your work week was dreadful after the long labor day weekend. In whichever category you fall, a new season is on its way and, if you’ve ever been there, you know it sucks when you start realizing you have no clothes in your wardrobe.
